Blubeam Custom Tool Set

I created a couple of custom annotative scale tools, these are mostly done using snipped items. I save the tool set and close BB normally but when I reopen BB some of the tools I have created graphically disappear and when selected create a block that is locked. I have tried this multiple times and it keeps failing is there a reason my tools are unstable?

I have this issue as well, and with more basic tool such as custom grouped sequences and even some basic polygon tools from time to time. The best solution I have for you at this point is that when you create the profile the way you like it, export it as a backup. Then when this happens you can re-import your profile quickly to get things moving again.

It's an bug that has been around for years. Uses should fully expect tool set icons and settings to become corrupted on a regular basis. Have requested it be fixed many many times.

This is a fairly common issue. Here is a work around.

Create your tool set, custom tools, and save it. Go to the file location your tool set is in and move a copy of it to safe place and rename it. It cannot have the same file name as your current tool set. This ensures that the tool set will not be deleted upon re-upload into BB (pending a crash).

If you have a crash, you can permanently delete tool sets if you do not do this method. This is a safety net to avoid having to remake all of your tools.

Do this method when you have made significant updates to your tool set and right before you close BB. This will ensure that you have a good copy of your custom tool set. If you have issues with your tool set upload your back-up tool set and you are good to go.

If an item is locked in a tool set and BB will not let you delete it with right click, there is a way to delete it.

Click the cog in the tool box you have the locked tool in. Find the locked tool that cannot be deleted with right click. Select it and use the trash can at the bottom left to delete it. This always works for me when a tool cannot be deleted with right click.

Our company builds custom tool sets for Bluebeam, so this has been challenging for us. It appears to primarily be on images or snipped items, I haven't really seen it on grouped items like others have. The weird thing is one item might be missing and another there, then the next time you open it might be reversed. It's very random. It looks like it started on version 21.7. We have tried every work around we can think of. Exporting renaming, etc. Nothing has consistently worked. The best we have found is saving and exporting the tool set from version 21.5, which I have on my laptop. Once you import it, it appears to work on all versions from what we have tested. Hopefully this is on the list of fixes!

I've been experiencing these problems for quite awhile(21.4 - 21.6?). When many toolset features changed. Now, when I create a toolset with new tools, I save and export, then often find next time I open BB, a tool icon will be blank. The blank tool can be inserted though it does remains blank. I import/replace the original working toolset and it has the same issue. Sometimes a tool will insert but it's immediately locked, unlockable, like an object published by AutoCAD to PDF and I can only undo to remove. I've even tried recreating the tool in a separate file, placing in the toolset, and still have the same problem. I also have issues of tools randomly appearing in other toolsets though I haven't added them. It frustrates me to have the tool I just used move in the toolset to the first position or a different position.

I agree with you that it's extremely frustrating. I design custom tools daily and it's an extra step or sometimes hours to fix the glitches. I know there are a number of issues with the behavior of tools. I specifically am just referring to the random disappearance of the icons when you go in and out of Bluebeam and also some tools showing up in difference tool sets. I wasn't able to use the tool like you are. So far, I haven't experienced that issue if I export them out of 21.4-21.6, but there were other issues in those versions that I have run into to. Hopefully there's a fix in the works, I know a lot of people are frustrated with this and it's essential for detailing and markups.
