Bluebeam Revu for iPad Retirement

As a longtime user of Bluebeam Revu and Bluebeam Revu for iPad, I was extremely disappointed to find that Revu for iPad was no longer being supported as of January 1, 2026. As a seasoned architect, this app became significantly integral to our work, especially when it comes to creating Punch Lists. Now that Revu for iPad is no longer on the app store, the only option Bluebeam has is Bluebeam Cloud, which is about as functional as Adobe Acrobat Reader. In talking to your tech support today, I was informed that Bluebeam Cloud never was intended to replace Revu for iPad, that it won’t be developed to have the same level of functionality, and that Bluebeam is moving away from Apple IOS altogether. This is a huge disservice to the Architectural profession, who arguably is probably one of the biggest professions that use your software. I understand that a $10 perpetual license for the app was not making Bluebeam money, but you could make it subscription based and it would still be worth the money. Or include it as one of your Bluebeam subscription pricing options. I know that my comments probably don’t carry much weight, but I can imagine that there is a whole lot of industry users that feel my same disappointment and frustration. You took something that was great away from us all. And now we are all going to have to scramble to find a product that serves our needs, since Bluebeam is no longer interested in providing such tools.

There’s a bit of confusion here.

While we’re not rebuilding Revu for iPad as it existed, we are committed to delivering a mobile experience that supports real field workflows, including punch-style workflows. Bluebeam isn’t moving away from iOS, and Bluebeam Cloud isn’t intended to be a static reader.

Marco shared an article earlier today that explains the why and what’s next more clearly. I’d recommend giving that a read for the full context.

I read the article…. It unfortunately does not address concerns we have today, nor do I see any specifics on how to make this a functioning tool. Intelligence in the how issues were tagged, linking the tags to specific spaces, and the ability to export reports that we could then send to the contractors were key. None of these are features that I see in the Bluebeam Cloud. Are these features that are being developed back in? That was not my impression with the Bluebeam representative I spoke with. If they are being built back in, then it would be good to give your users some peace of mind. If so, why disable a product that works well while launching a tool the hardly functions. Not a good way to roll out a product in my mind. My goal is not to be argumentative nor do I normally write feedback to companies, but I felt it was necessary in this case because it goes beyond just me. Our whole firm is left no longer having a solution and feeling quite frustrated by this. It was disasterous when a colleague went out to site only to find that his Revu for iPad (while still on his iPad) no longer worked due to an IOS update. His punchwalk had to be rescheduled. If Bluebeam feels that this is the best route for the future, then you need to provide some assurances back to your users. I hear two core needs: tracking punch items by space and generating reports you can hand to contractors.

Today, you can complete a punch walk in Bluebeam Mobile, then return to Revu to generate reports with Spaces intact. We’ve intentionally focused mobile on field execution; reporting remains an office workflow for now.

Revu for iPad was removed because it was unstable, outdated, and not sustainable to maintain. We’ll get to a more end-to-end mobile solution, but reliable file access and markups had to come first.

Although its removed from sale, Revu for iPad is still registered under our App Store account. If you previously downloaded it and need it again, you can open the App Store, go to Profile → Apps → My Apps, and re-download it from there.

One feature we would like in the cloud & web versions is the ability to access files not in a studio project from more locations, namely from Autodesk ACC build and other file utilities we link to like Synology drive, & ACC desktop connector or even from an email attachment. We need access to the the full markup tool-sets in the field on the ipads as well. Much of our redline drawing data is fed from the field where they can update installation drawings while they're looking at the install. We don't need to create a studio project for every job because often the drawings are hosted elsewhere by the General Contractor and it adds risk to try and manage multiple instances of the same files. We have 50 bluebeam licenses and will have to consider other options if the ipad tool isn't fully capable soon.

Thanks for your feedback.

On web, we’ve been expanding access to files that live outside Studio through Documents, which supports connections to OneDrive, SharePoint, and Procore, in addition to personal uploads.

On Bluebeam iOS (currently called Bluebeam Cloud), the app is offline-first. As of the iOS updates released last September, we support local file editing, which means you can open PDFs directly from the iOS Files app, mark them up, and save or export them back out. This works with providers that expose files through Files, including tools like Autodesk Construction Cloud and Synology, as well as files opened from a browser or email attachment. No Studio Project required.

It’s also worth noting that file providers can behave differently on iOS. Permissions and provider-specific implementations affect whether files open in place or require an export, so it’s important to validate this on the latest version of iOS if you haven’t already.

On the markup side, we’re actively working on Tool Sets for iOS, including support for importing BTX tool sets. Tool Sets will support all custom markups built on the core markup types available today. More advanced tools like stamps aren’t expected until later.
