Creating a Multi-Discipline Combined Plan

I'm looking for a way to combine specific symbols from different disciplines into a single plan. Our project requires coring and trenching an existing concrete slab. My goal is to overlay all the symbols for any slab item so we can have a comprehensive demo plan. I would need to grab just the floor outlet symbols from the electrical plan, just the data jacks from the LV plan, etc.

My initial thought was to snapshot each symbol and paste it into the new plan but that would take a lot of time. Is there a way to do multiple selections in a single snapshot? Another thought was to insert a colored circle on each symbol then copy/paste those on to the new plan. Any other ideas on how to approach this?

This is interesting! I'm sure others will chime in with their suggestions as well, but here's what I would try:

1) Create a symbol for each object and turn that into a count measurement, save in a toolbox.
2) Do a visual search for items (like your floor outlet symbols)
3) Apply that count measurement with its symbol to the items found with the visual search.
4) Do some QC to make sure all items were found.
5) Export those markups (filtered).
6) Import your results into a combined .pdf

This would allow you to apply a symbol to multiple items at once, but yet keep them separated by type.
