Is Flatten broken?

Is Flatten broken?? I can no longer flatten AutoCAD SHX Text.

I use take-off in bluebeam and tag my items in the properties menu. If there are AutoCAD SHX Text or objects on the sheet, I am unable to label these items. As the properties window gets greyed out if a SHX item is highlighted. This makes things very difficult to quickly tag an elevation.

Is there a way to fix this? Or a way around it?
