Bookmarks Bar should show location in document when not on a Bookmarked Page.

In a single pdf, you may have multiple reports. Lets say only the cover pages of those reports are bookmarked. You use the search function and find some info that you want to bookmark. But how do you know which report this info is in? You have to compare page numbers with the bookmarks.

Currently Bluebeam uses the carrot ( < ) to show you are on that page (IF that page is bookmarked). It would be great if there could be an indicator where in the document, on the bookmarks bar, that you are currently at (between which bookmarks).

For example: Say Im on page 7 of report 3 and want to place a bookmark. You wouldnt see a carrot in this case.

Report 3 Lets show a small line ( _ ) or similar, where the carrot goes between the bookmarks to show you are between these 2 reports in the document.

I like the concept @Shawn Engelken!

Until something gets added you might consider including the page number in the bookmarks. That way if you know what document page you are on you should be able to tie it back into the reports.

@Shawn Engelken, Agreed. I hadn’t noticed this before. It would definitely be helpful if the bookmarks bar showed the current position, even when the page isn’t bookmarked.

However, I see a flaw in that idea. Since bookmarks aren’t necessarily arranged by page order and can be created as “children” under other bookmarks, identifying the current position may not always be possible.

Good points @Shaya Birnbaum. Us Engineers tend to think that everything needs to be in "proper" order. Sometimes document don't work that way… 🙂

Perhaps we need an option in the bookmarks display to "indicate relative position" or something along those lines… 😎
