Build Count Into Every Measurement Tool

It would be really nice for the estimators that use bluebeam regularly to be able to see the counts of all the measurement tools and markups, not just the count tool. This would essentially mean that every measurement that's not a count would be automatically assigned a count of 1. Then, for example, if I take off the widows as areas, I can also easily see how many window area boxes I made (to count the windows).

This is a great quality control check when estimating @Keaton Prisbrey. After reading your suggestion I went to find an example.

I'm working on a takeoff for a 26 lot subdivision. The site is split over 4 sheets without any match lines so keeping track of what is captured on each sheet - and making sure you haven't missed anything - is definitely a challenge. In the screen shot below you can see, from the markups list, how I know that I've captured the area measurements for all 26 driveway aprons:

So, while I agree that it would be helpful to have a markup count column, you may find that the information you are looking for is already in the markups list.

This is a great suggestion that I’ve thought about in the past. I can definitely see the use case, for example when running a polyline length. Instead of just giving the total length, having another column that assigns a quantity of one to each instance would make it much easier to track counts alongside measurements.

The count is especially important when extracting takeoffs and combining measurements so that you get both a total length and total quantity.

I would love to see this implemented. Does anyone know a way to add a count using custom columns in the meantime?

Sure, just create a custom number column and assign the number "1" to it on the tools you want to count. On all other tools the column will be blank and will not effect the total.

Thanks @Don Walke, your idea worked. I’m not sure if this is the simplest way to do it, but I created a custom column called “Linear Count” with the following setup:

Type: Formula
Expression: [Measurement] / [Length]

This gives me a count of 1 for all linear items and none for count-based ones.

It’s not perfect yet. I’m noticing some miscalculations on area measurements. I’ll keep testing and see how I can refine it.
