How did you navigate to this menu @Thomas Luedke? I have been poking around and do not see where these settings and choices are in the program?
Tool Chest Settings were added in 21.6 under the Tool Chest dropdown menu.
Exclude Text Boxes (default): Standard behavior of switching to Properties Mode allows you to use a text box with the freshly typed text as Comments.
No: Comments won't carry over to new markup placement.
All Markups: If you see Comments in the Tool Set Column, using that markup will use the Comments…even when using Properties mode.
@Ryan Arbuckle thank you. While you're here, can you tell me if there's any way to disable the default behavior of measurement markups wherein they occupy the comments field with whatever the caption is? I want to be able to type custom comments for measurement markups, which make up about 90% of my total markups. I was hoping that these settings had something to do with changing that but I suppose not.
It just doesn't make any sense that you wouldn't be able to add comments to measurements.
You are correct. We can't alter the Comment. To clean up the view of your Tool Set, you can go into "Manage Tool Chest Columns" and turn off visibility of Comments.
If you need to add text to your measurement markups, you might try a Custom Column (text). I called mine "Notes" in this example. I typed my "comment" in the Markups List (or via Properties Panel).
Yeah it just seems like a workaround. What functionality is enabled by the measurement occupying that field with redundant/duplicated information?
