I love to use the search to find equipment tags on a print, but some documents dont search for some reason — What do I need to do to make them searchable?
Doug,
Nevermind… I got it figured out using this video. https://youtu.be/YIbGYGH4j9w?si=-QWbmqF9NOPWKO6N Thanks for your original answer though getting me to the OCR point. You da man! 👊
check to see if its a vector or raster based pdf first. Easiest way I've found is to change your cursor to Select Text and then hover over some text. If it changes when you're over text, you have a Vector based PDF, if not you have a Raster based one which is essentially an image. Run your OCR and Search should work.
What does Run OCR mean? I printed a document to Bluebeam PDF after opening it with Firefox to bypass the security restrictions and now the first 190 pages are not searchable (I guess that means they are Raster based from what you're saying here). Is there a way to change that? The original document (the one with all of the security measures in place) is entirely searchable so I'm not really sure how or why it changed when i printed to PDF from Firefox. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
