Stamp File Name Displayed Instead of Title

When I go to Tools → Stamp and select a stamp, it displays the full file name in the dropdown, regardless of the title I set under the Properties of the stamp. This is a bit inconvenient, as I would prefer to see the stamp's title.

The dropdown under File → New PDF from Template shows the title from the properties, which is very useful, as it allows me to display a shortened version of the file name rather than the full one.

Has anyone else encountered this issue or found a way to get the stamp dropdown to show the title instead of the file name? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, @MB! You know what? I never even noticed it before, because I save all my custom tools, stamps, etc in folders that basically allow me to name the file what I want it to be called in Revu. I made some with a longer, descriptive file name, and yeah, that was nutty looking. I don't know if that's something we could have Bluebeam change someday or not, but that could be a nice little quality of life change if so.

Sorry, I don't have a solution to your problem, but maybe just make a new product feedback post to see if the change gains traction?

@MB, You can rename the files directly, and the new names will show up in Bluebeam immediately. I just tested it.

Navigate to the stamp folder (for example: C:\ProgramData\Bluebeam Software\Bluebeam Revu\20\Stamps).
Rename any stamp file, and the updated name will be reflected in Bluebeam automatically.

I tested it with a copy of "Approved" and change the filed name to "Approved-New Name". See result below.

Yeah, I think the point was that MB doesn't want to change the file name though.

I hear that. Personally though, I find that renaming the files directly is much quicker and more efficient than going into each stamp and editing it manually. That's just me though.

@Shaya, yes—that's a good suggestion and is the approach we are using for now.

We follow a specific file naming convention for internal consistency and revision tracking. Each file (e.g. company profile, templates, stamps) includes a revision number and date in the filename to support our version control process. These files are managed centrally, not by individual users, so that everyone’s working from a standardized, up-to-date set of tools/templates. See example below.

The issue I’m running into is that when I go to Tools → Stamp, the dropdown shows the full file name of the stamp, not the title set in the stamp’s Properties. This can make it difficult to quickly identify the right stamp, especially with our detailed filenames.

Interestingly, in File → New PDF from Template, the dropdown shows the title from the Properties instead of the filename, which is much more convenient. Ideally, it would be great if the Stamp tool behaved the same way.

Has anyone come across a better way to track revisions that still allows the files to be named cleanly for the dropdown view? Open to suggestions!

Thanks @bcostlow — yeah, we’re currently exploring some possible workarounds on our end, as it’s possible our filing system may not be the most efficient for this particular use case.

If it turns out there’s no clean solution, I’ll definitely consider submitting product feedback. Although it feels like a small tweak could improve the usability in Revu.
