When doing housekeeping on the network on large .pdfs, I hate reducing the file size of files I find because it changes the date.
Reducing file size modifies the document. Isn't it important to know when the document was last modified, no matter the reason for the modification? Not trying to be argumentative. Just a curious soul trying to better understand the reasoning behind such a request.
If a project goes out in January, all files pertaining to issuing those documents have a mod. date of Jan. or before. I housekeeping in November changes the date of the large .pdf it is misleading. The contents of the .pdf (other than the resolution) has not changed. If someone were going back into the project to find the latest issue of a drawing, they would look at the dates, find the earlier version of the drawing that I reduced, and use that one, thinking that it is the most current version since it's the newest date. Or at least be confused as to why it has such a new date. Regards. » - - «
