Quantity Link

Hi, can anyone tell me what is the maximum amount of "Quantity Links" they have managed to their excel spreadsheet.

I am an estimator of internal walls and linings including carpentry for mainly highrise residential buildings. (User of Bluebeam over 10yrs)

My scenario is I have a typical "Toolchest" with 165 items (wall, ceiling types, carpentry items etc.) The "quantity link feature means i should be able to link each measured item type per space/level and have it up date if changed. The real bonus would be to use the spreadsheet as a "Template" and just change the source file for each job automatically collecting all measurement for all new jobs including any changes made. I maxed out at 60 links before Bluebeam Revu & Excel started jamming up.

has anyone done this successfully? Maybe I need more computing power etc. Any advise would be much appreciated.

Ps I have heard from support. They have said "with that number of links, that can definitely affect the performance and ability to maneuver through Revu." However they didn't say it can't be done!

Hi, I would suggest that if you are looking to get the maximum out of your markups then you start looking at using Power Query in Excel instead of Quantity Link.

This way you get to use all of the data from the mark-up list instead of just a summary of each tool. Ultimately meaning that you can minimise your markups whilst maximising the output data.

    Hi @vfrench,

Thanks so much for the suggestion. Power Query looks like a great option. Now looks like I have some homework to do on using Power Query!
