Re: How to Track Project Issues
Disclaimer - I am now a Bluebeam employee, but I came from concrete construction and came to Bluebeam because I was such a fan.
When I was in construction, I used Bluebeam to track almost all project issues and communication with my-subs/partners, I would invite them all to a Session with the project plans. Have a specific Tool Set for comments by each sub or by specialty, each in a different color and then they could use Bluebeam to mark the issue on directly on the plans, add any photos, make comments, assign a Status, etc. Bluebeam automatically logs who made the comment and when, so that was half the info I needed already.
Basically, we avoided using emails to communicate at all and used the Sessions plan set as a single source of truth and the primary means of recording issues/phasing/site layout/punchlists/etc. That way everything was searchable and sortable and I could easily generate quick reports (using the Markups List Summary) by trade/user/phase/etc.
I did make custom columns like @Luke Shiras mentioned above, but having the toolchests pre-created for my collaborators meant that I had already pre-filled a lot of the columns for them. I only required that they update a couple columns when they added a new item to the Session (like "Due Date", "Urgency/Criticality" or maybe a pick-list column with other trades/specialties that would be impacted/involved).
To make sure that everyone had access to my Tool chests, I would load a cover page in the Session with some simple instructions and a copy of the Profile that held all the tools.
We figured, why keep a separate Excel file that we had to keep publishing when the Markups List is basically an excel file that everyone can access.
Re: Can I filter sessions by my status?
@Brooke Frusher This is a great idea!
If you submit it in the Feedback forum, other people can upvote it and possibly offer their add-on ideas that might make the Session filtering even better!
When creating a Batch Summary, can you specify the font used to generate the PDF?
Hi All,
We are changing the company style guide and stepping though updating everything to match.
I am wondering if it's possible to change/specify the font used when creating a batch summary in PDF format? A long shot I know!
Thanks
Elizabeth
Re: Set Status in Sessions
That's some good detective work. Make sure to tell BB Support about the fact that deleting that folder seems to fix it. Maybe that will put them on the right track. I am personally way too dumb to troubleshoot things like this, but as far as I'm concerned, the Support team might all be members of Mensa.
Set Status in Sessions
Occasionally, during a session a user will not see the status options needed to set the state. The occurrence is not tied to a specific user or session. This issue has persisted for years, and I am still searching for a solution - aside from additional markings or highlights in the session markups.
Anyone else experiencing this issue or have a solution?
Re: Set Status in Sessions
On the same document, can a specific user sometimes see the status options and sometimes can't?
Or is it that some users can see the status options while others can not (same document)?
Re: Set Status in Sessions
Yes, it's the same document, some users can see the status options while others cannot. The issue appears to be random, affecting different people in different sessions.
Re: Set Status in Sessions
Are you still using floating licenses? And if so, are they the same version/level? For example are some users getting Revu CAD and others getting Revu Extreme? Is everyone on the same build? This is all unlikely but I want to exhaust the random possibilities, too.
Re: Set Status in Sessions
All good points - intentionally all work on the same version (21.5) and are generally up to date.
Autodesk has trained us well when it comes to this - appreciate the thoughts.
Re: Set Status in Sessions
The easiest way is to make sure the statuses are configured, is to make sure they are in the PDF prior to uploading it to a session. Status settings cannot be changed after upload. If the user still cannot set a status, check their license level. Users with Basic cannot create custom statuses, and I believe the "free" users cannot set status.
