Re: Question vs Discussion?
Hey @Luke Shiras,
Great questions! Yes, they are classified differently, color-coded, and searchable. Ideation (New Idea) is only available within the Product Ideas & Feedback category. This mostly is due to our product group being directly involved in that category and helps with analytics. We don't necessarily need that for Community Chatter, although that may change in the future! We're trying to keep things a bit easier and straightforward as we build up Bluebeam Community.
Let me also provide more context here, in case other concerns come up.
takes deep breath
While users can technically ask questions using a Discussion post, the ability to label it a Question includes a few features that make it better suited to asking (and answering).
Differentiating Questions and Discussions makes it easier for members to have their questions answered and helps others to quickly locate questions that need to be answered. When browsing posts, members can differentiate Questions, Answered Questions, and Solved Questions. There are tags located beneath the post status when browsing the list of Recent Discussions, Recently Answered, or Unanswered.
Another big feature is Follow Up notifications. By turning on Question type posts, we can enable follow-up notifications (including emails) to users who have asked questions in the community but who have not yet accepted or rejected the answers they’ve received. These notifications help prompt authors to follow up (hence the name) and ultimately flag an answer as accepted, which, in turn, benefits the rest of the community.
This post type allows us to better filter unanswered questions that Bluebeam Staff may be able to assist with, as well as better analytics controlled on the backend. And lastly, for points! Answering questions gives more points, and more points means more rewards. 😁
Hope this helps!
Regarding the Poll situation, can you provide more details? Are you referring to others being able to comment within a Poll post, just like a discussion?

Re: Example of Talk Bluebeam posts
@Luke Shiras Indeed! This platform allows Staff to identify posts that can be promoted to the top for a period of time, as well as pinned indefinitely.
On the member side, it is possible that a certain number of Likes/Reactions can increase visibility of a topic. That's definitely something we can look enabling in the future.

Re: Anonymous Likes?
Great question, @Luke Shiras!
Reactions (Likes) are anonymous. We are currently not making Reactions visible at this time. We also have the platform preventing reaction pop-up notifications as well in order to reduce the amount of spam or unwanted/needed notifications.

Re: Hide Signatures?
Hey @Luke Shiras,
Yes, this is a personal setting. If a member does not want to see any signatures/sig images at all they can toggle this setting off.

Re: Search Bar for Emojis
Now if "Big Emoji" could just start giving intuitive names to the various emojis, we'd all be a lot better off. 😉
Re: Blocking User from a Session???
@RJ Palis that sounds like a good solution but I don't think it will work with their workflow.
Someone creates the session and invites the generic department email. Then the Planning Tech person forwards the invite email to the person within the dept who will be working on the project. I'm guessing the Planning Tech is not the person who created the session, so they can't add attendees and the person who set up the session doesn't know who will be on the project when they set it up.
You could make a group for each project and update the members once they are known but that's the same as adding individuals to the invite. The problem is that there doesn't seem to be a consistent team to group together to make it practical.
Or maybe I misunderstood what @Andy Krogh was describing.
Re: 💡 Share Your Bluebeam Tips & Tricks!
@Luke Shiras - Bernardo Wills - good catch! We've updated the original links @RJ Palis & @George Othitis posted. They should work now😁
Re: Files slow? This may help improve performance.
@Luke Shiras The "Wait for Completion" setting is excellent, but if you're typically opening small PDFs that don't have a lot of images and assets, then you can pan around them and load data a bit faster with "Iterative Draw".
Yes, the "Resolution (System)" is based on our monitors, so it can't be changed unless we use a different one. Some small monitors can have higher resolution. My 15" laptop is 1080p and has 120ppi. ;)
Tip: Dimmer Tool
Dimmer: The Dimmer menu contains tools to control dimmer effects on the content layer of the PDF in order to better see annotations.
Dim Content (CTRL+F5): Toggles the dimmer effect on or off.
0-100%: Set the level of dimming as a percentage. The lower the percentage, the less intense the underlying PDF will appear compared to the annotations.
Tip: Use Temporary Dimensions
Do you enjoy using the measure tool in Revit and wish Bluebeam had the same ability? Well, you're in luck, because it does.
After selecting any measurement tool, expand the Measurements pulldown and uncheck “Make Annotations from Measurements”.
Now when you measure something, it will be temporary and not leave a mark. Just keep in mind that you have to set the page scale first.
