Edit Grouped Markups In Place

The new update appears to have complicated the process of editing grouped text markups in place. Has anyone else noticed this?

Before, I could easily edit text in a group, particularly if the text box was on the top layer among them, by simply double clicking on the text to edit that box.

I could place a Grouped Markup from my Tools for a section as shown below.

Double clicking on any of the text characters would allow me to edit that character (snip below).

Now, when I attempt to do the same thing, I get the prompt below.

I attempted to un-group the markups, bring the text field to the front, and re-group, but that didn't help.

It appears that Bluebeam now wants users to utilize the Markups List to find the group, toggle to the nested markup, and edit it in the Markups List, which takes much longer than a simple double click to edit.

This may be related to the new Selection Cycling feature, which has proven more of a nuisance than a help, as it seems to be negatively impacting some of our oft-used markups tools.

Is there a way to bring back the ability to edit text fields in place like before? If not, Bluebeam just got way worse.

"This may be related to the new Selection Cycling feature"

That was going to be my suggestion. Hopefully, that also makes it an easy fix.

  • FWIW - the problem above is with Selection Cycle disabled. So, while it may be related at a code level, it's not fixed by simply disabling the feature.

Thanks for posting this in detail with screenshots. This was changed with the 21.4 update. I'll go ahead and send this over to Product Ideas & Feedback.

Unfortunately, this is a "feature" that ruined half of my markup tools.

  • I struggled with this the other day for a while. It was also somewhat random. It would work properly sometimes and then have the issue you are showing above the next time. I would love to see it fixed.

I have received word that this should be fixed in Revu v 21.5.

@STR - Kristin yes - I observed the exact same behavior with mine. It seemed to kinda work better if I zoomed way in, but that defeats the purpose somewhat.

@Marco-M thanks for forwarding this to the dev team. Very much appreciated.
