CTRL + F | Search

CTRL + F initiates a search. I type the search term. I press Enter to see results.

Upon pressing CTRL + F again to search another term, instead of highlighting the search term field for editing, it changes the "what to search" selector to "Folder".

Is there any way around this? Very frustrating, and I don't believe older versions of BlueBeam operated in this way.

Thanks so much!

Sorry this was missed when first posted.

Looking into your question, it seems the first time Ctrl+F is used it brings you to the search tool. When you use the "Enter" key, the selection jumps down to the next field - what I will call the Search Source and Ctrl+F becomes a shortcut to the available choices in that pull-down menu. Ctrl+C will cycle between Current Document and Current Page.

To quickly navigate BACK to the Search Term field, use Shift+Tab. Using the Shift key reverses the order in which the Tab key cycles and therefore will go back one field, which in this case will be the field you want for a new search.

Unfortunately, simply hitting Tab by itself takes you somewhere else in Blubeam and starts messing around with your toolbars.

  • I guess that's a workaround, but can we agree that isn't intended behavior? The function of Ctlr+F changes after it's been used, and effectively no longer works after you've completed your first search. After you hit Enter, Ctlr+F turns into a shortcut to choose "Folder" from a dropdown. This shouldn't be the intent.

In this case, I'd say it functions correctly, but users like ourselves expect something else and it may be worth changing to meet customer needs.
