PDF file size reduction from Revit

Has anyone come across a good workflow to help maintain the graphic quality of a PDF export from Revit, while minimizing the file size (aka reload time within Bluebeam)?
We are seeing challenges with sheets that need to show hatch patterns (ex. life safety hatches), color, and on a 30x42 sheet size.
I have tried to:
- reduce the dpi output from 600dpi to 300, and even 150 (with results showing an increased file size)
- clear Bluebeam cache
- compress the file within Bluebeam (only got a 0.05% reduction)
- testing export from Revit vs Bluebeam plugin
Anything else I could try?
