Import - Ctrl + F3
Dear All,
I have to highilight that the function "Import" is missing into the MARKUP tool bar option. The only way to use it is only with the Ctrl + F3 keyboard shortcut and only if is already in the user's previous knowledge.
The precence of the button into the ToolBar would help users in knowledge (almost impossible in this way) and in identifying this function in a performant way.
thanks in advance,
Best Regads,
Stefano Tattarletti
Re: Import - Ctrl + F3
I had a look, and I agree that I can't see it there, and I am unsure if I can add it to a new Toolbar.
I feel that it's in an intuitive location, but it requires a few clicks to get there.
I talked to someone today about Importing data from many files. I plan to look at Scripting for Importing Markups and then incorporate that into a button and even a Bulk Script Import Markups workflow. I don't know if this will work, but it's worth trying!
Re: Tool Chest Tool
I helped a customer with a similar question only last week. I see your point and think it's an interesting idea, but at this point, Bluebeam can't do that. So, what can we do?
I will be general without knowing what you are creating a quantity take-off for.
The key is to use Choice Columns and import data from Excel as a .csv file for each Choice Column.
Align the Choice Column options to the Subject name of the Markup (takeoff).
Let's use an example of an electrical item: lights
1. Build a toolset of all the fundamental types: downlight, spotlight, striplight, etc. E.g. 8 different types
2. Create a Choice Column of the different globes needed: fluorescent, LED, Edison, etc. E.g. 5 different types
3. Create a Choice Column of the different lumens needed: 40, 60, 80 etc. EG 6 different types
At this stage, in this example, you have 8 types x 5 globles x 6 lumen options = 240 potential options.
4. If you want specific part numbers, create a list in Excel, import it via .csv into a Choice Column and use it in your takeoff
Have a look at this support article and look out for the section "Import material choice items"
Re: 🗓️ August 2024 Challenge - Custom & Favorite Tool Sets!
I use tool chests to collect information in a consistent way. See pic below.
With a tool chest and a custom filter, it's a good way to say to a group of people: here is the document, here are the buckets of information I'm expecting to get from you. Now go collect.
If you're into the details: 1. We keep all of our PDFs in sessions so we have to have a page at the back of the document to bring in the layers that align to the tool chest. 2. I have to confirm that custom filters transfer with the profiles but i would assume so, otherwise setting this up manually on 20 computers would be a pain. 3. I find that for some people, to get buy-in, they want to see some kind of output, so you can transfer the tool chest data to a standard report → You have to download the data table to CSV and i have an excel file that can match the heading name in an excel table column to the text box field name in bluebeam to transfer the info another PDF. Then you can have a nice PDF containing the pre-structured information that they can hold in their hands. *i don't do this often because it takes so long and it's a static document.
Re: 📢 The Future of Bluebeam Cloud ☁️
Agree 100%. Bluebeam for iOS is a great product for viewers, especially in underground project or other types of project where there's no access to internet on site. Unfortunately it is a very outdated product that should have received it's share of love ages ago.
I have several projects where I use Revu iOS offline as a viewer, except for a few "hotspots" where the iPads can sync with the latest changes.
Re: Leave Bluebeam Cloud Alone?
Its distressing to know they're doing away with the RFI, Submittals, and Punch system without a replacement. I watched the webinar last week and its not a good replacement. Its half baked and clunky. We have contractors that need a simple and intuitive interface as possible. What was demonstrated is not at all simple. Disappointed in this decision.
Re: Web Based Add-in
Hi Jen. I am curious if anyone has reached out regarding the web-based add-ins you wrote about. I submitted a ticket to Revu about this earlier this morning.
Re: 📢 The Future of Bluebeam Cloud ☁️
I'm really looking forward to this. It will be great for the iOS version to continue evolving. For now, Bluebeam is mostly a desktop app for me with the occasional file saved to my iPad to reference. I don't do much work within the iOS app or on the cloud.
Re: ✴️ Experience using the Tool Chest?
I agree, the Tool Chest is a great feature but it does have room for further improvement. I use the Comment column quite often and I'm having one problem that I would love to see fixed in a future update:
I have noticed that if I draw a Line (saved in a tool set with comments and in 'Properties mode') while having the 'Reuse' tool activated, I can't draw more than one line at a time without losing the comments. This problem basically renders the Reuse tool useless.
